Car dealership owner fined S$1.5 million for evading duty and tax on 427 imported vehicles- image
Jason Liang Huan Shuo, the owner of JDM Automobile, was also jailed for underpaying the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) during the registration of the vehicles.
Another two charges involving the evasion of GST of S$103,183 were taken into account for sentencing.
The 44-year-old was also given five weeks’ jail for underpaying the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) during the registration of the vehicles, said Singapore Customs and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a joint press release.
The ARF is a tax imposed when a vehicle is registered and is calculated based on a percentage of the vehicle's Open Market Value.
He had pleaded guilty to one charge of giving incorrect information about the values of 219 vehicles. Another similar charge about the values of 103 vehicles was taken into consideration for sentencing.
