SM Entertainment expressed that Ye Sung, whose real name is Kim Jong Woon, will do so once he receives official notification to enlist.
This makes Super Junior's Super Show 5 concert tour his last with the band.
The 28-year-old star became emotional during the group's Super Show 5 concert in Seoul on Sunday and expressed his gratitude to his fans.
"After five years as a trainee, I have spent the last eight years as part of Super Junior with the fans. I am grateful for the love everyone has given me!" said Ye Sung.
"I have forgotten how valuable the time performing on stage is. Now I understand … When I am not around, I hope everyone can give Super Junior even more love."
"I won't forget everyone, and hope everyone won't forget me."
Ye Sung may be enlisting, but he is unlikely to be called on to perform any frontline duties.
SM Entertainment revealed that the singer has received a Grade 4 physical status classification, which means he'll probably be posted as a public service worker among civilians instead.
