As news of Stan Lee’s death broke on Monday (Nov 12), tributes poured in from across the world, with Hollywood taking to Instagram and Twitter to pay their last respects.
Robert Downey Jr said simply: "I owe it all to you..." The actor's career had stalled after a series of personal issues in the late 90s and early 2000s. Being cast as Iron Man in 2008 launched one of the biggest comebacks Hollywood had ever seen.

Hugh Jackman, who played X-Men character Wolverine in the Marvel Universe, said that he was “proud to have been a small part of his legacy”.
Jeremy Renner – otherwise known as Hawkeye in The Avengers – described Lee as a “legend”.
Evangeline Lilly, who portrayed Hope van Dyne / Wasp in Ant-Man and will appear in the upcoming Avengers 4, expressed her desire to “break the Internet” for Lee.
Even actors who haven’t appeared in Marvel movies spoke well of Lee, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recalling how “warm and welcoming” Lee was when he first came to Hollywood.
Not surprisingly, Lee’s passing has become a trending topic on Twitter. “Stan Lee” has been tweeted almost four million times while the hashtag #Excelsior – Lee’s catchphrase – has racked up nearly 170,000 mentions at the time of publication, including from Chris Evans, a.k.a Captain America, himself.
