Much has been said about Mr. Tharman’s stature potentially deterring others from standing against him and how yet another uncontested election might erode the credibility of the elected presidency. On his part, Mr. Tharman said on Sunday that having to contest the election was “important for (him)”.
It is precisely given his ties to the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP), notwithstanding his credentials, that Mr. Tharman’s presidential bid could inspire hopefuls, especially from the private sector, who believe that they are equal to the task of being president.
Foodies hankering after Jeanette Aw’s consistently sold-out bakes will have to wait a bit longer. The 42-year-old recently “blacked out” while baking at her newly opened bakery, Once Upon A Time.
In a post on Instagram on Saturday (Aug 7), Aw wrote, “After pushing limits for the entire month, the body just decided to give way. Mentally and physically. I blacked out in this place of pristine white. Sincere apologies for not being able to fulfill the orders today.”
Since throwing open the doors of her bakery in May, Aw has been inundated with orders. Besides baking to fill her shelves, the actress recently worked with partners such as Dior Beauty to create customised goodies.
In the post, Aw also said, “This was envisioned as a place of joy, where I shared this joy with all of you through my bakes. But I guess in this real world, joy and kindness is very easily drowned out.”
She ended by saying that she will be reassessing her priorities. "I will be taking September to rest and we will not be opened. Time to recover, recalibrate and reset the entire order system.”
Get well soon, Jeanette.
