K-pop singer Luna opens up about Sulli's death, her struggle with panic attacks

Luna, the singer and actress formerly from K-pop girl group f(x), has opened up about her feelings over her group mate Sulli’s death.

Sulli, real name Choi Jin-ri, was found dead in her home in October last year.

Luna revealed during her appearance on the Korean TV show Human Documentary – I Like People on Tuesday (Mar 3) that she was so shocked when she heard the news that she sat on the street and cried.

She said through tears, as reported by entertainment portal Soompi: “She contacted me (before she died). For the first time in 15 years, she used informal speech with me and said, ‘Unni, I want to see you.’ I could tell that it was a message that she sent after holding it in for a long time.”

“I felt so apologetic as her unni,” Luna added, referring to the Korean term meaning older sister. “I should have approached her first to talk. I should have said something. I should have told her I loved her more.”

The 26-year-old, whose real name is Park Sun-young, also shared during the show that she suffers from depression and panic disorder and that she was physically affected by severe panic attacks.

She said: “I couldn’t even get in the car. As soon as I got in, my hands and feet would start shaking and I couldn’t talk and it was like I was going crazy. I was too frightened to get in the car.”

Sulli's death was not the only loss Luna faced last year. She revealed that a close friend and roommate died not long after Sulli did. Luna said: “There was no other friend like her. Her life must have been really difficult. I can’t understand everything, but I know it must have been very painful.”
