Lady Gaga has called off her engagement with fiance Christian Carino, confirmed her representative to celebrity news publication People.
“It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,” the representative said. “There’s no long dramatic story.”
Fans began speculating about the split after the 32-year-old singer attended the Grammy Awards on Feb 11 (Singapore time) without her engagement ring, a US$400,000 (S$541,140) pink sapphire.
Gaga also did not thank Carino, her 48-year-old talent agent fiance, in her Grammys acceptance speech when Shallow won the award for Best Pop Duo Or Group Performance. Instead, she used the time to speak about mental health.
Gaga confirmed her engagement to Carino last October when she thanked her "fiance Christian" during her speech at Elle's 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration.
Wonder what Carino is going to do about his tattoo of Gaga's face on his upper arm though.
The singer was engaged to Taylor Kinney before they split in July 2016.
Gaga will be back on the red carpet this Monday (Feb 25) for the Academy Awards, where she is nominated for Best Original Song and Best Actress for her work in A Star Is Born.
