David Harbour will be making the leap from Dark House Comics’ Hellboy to Marvel’s planned Black Widow solo film, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Harbour has also previously enjoyed small roles in DC’s widely-panned Suicide Squad and played a corrupt politician in The Green Hornet. He is best known for playing Sheriff Jim Hopper in all three seasons of Netflix's Stranger Things.

While it remains unclear if he will play a friend or foe of Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff, the film is slated to begin production this summer. Aside from Harbour and Johansson, the only other confirmed player is actress Florence Pugh.

According to a report from Variety, Oscar winner Rachel Weisz is also circling an undisclosed role for the film. If the deal closes, she and her castmates will be directed by Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland. Shortland is Marvel’s first solo female director after Anna Boden, who co-directed Captain Marvel with Ryan Fleck.

Harbour will return to the big screen next week, when Hellboy opens in cinemas Apr 12. He recently wrapped the action thriller Dhaka, in which he stars alongside another Marvel mainstay, Chris Hemsworth. The third season of Stranger Things will begin streaming on Netflix this July.

Weisz was most recently in the press for her Oscar nomination for her role in The Favourite. She previously won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in 2006’s The Constant Gardener.
