You’ve scoured the usual places: Tanjong Pagar Road, Delfi Orchard, ION Orchard’s Jewellery Street. But you’ve yet to find The One – a bauble that makes your heart flutter. A rock so substantial, it makes your friends go positively green with envy.
Who knew the search for an engagement ring could be so hard? And we haven't even talked about wedding bands.

This weekend, you might just get lucky. That’s when the Singapore Jewellery and Gem Fair (SJGF) rolls into town at Marina Bay Sands (MBS).
The four-day event, which opens on Friday (Oct 26), will showcase 150,000 pieces of jewellery from more than 200 exhibitors. There’ll be everything from off-the-shelf designs you can say yes to, to bespoke creations that are worth the wait.

Among the highlights are pieces from Heritage Gems Fine Jewellery, Sara Taseer Fine Jewellery, SK Jewellery and An Order of Bling.

If it’s custom designs you’re after, pay a visit to An Order of Bling, where you can create personalised pieces limited only by your imagination (and budget, of course).
One particular couple who were ardent fans of Harry Potter commissioned a ring inspired by the Golden Snitch – a flying ball used in the game of Quidditch – with “wings” that can be opened and closed like its movie counterpart.

Think you’ve got a flair for design? Take part in the Design-Your-Ring Competition held in partnership with the Jewellery Design and Management International School (JDMIS). You’ll receive a complimentary 15-minute private session with an instructor onsite.
Winners get to walk away with a 3D-printed model of their designs, which – just saying – can then be taken to a bespoke jeweller to be fleshed out.

If you’re done shopping, there’s a raft of activities to engage in. Expand your horizons at the JewelTalk Seminars, check out the Gem Museum, or attend the Gem Rendezvous. The latter is a three-hour knowledge exchange and networking session where you can bond with other jewellery enthusiasts, or perhaps, even fellow brides- and grooms-to-be.
The Singapore Jewellery Gem Fair (SJGF) is on from Oct 26 to Oct 29 at Marina Bay Sands Halls A and B, 11am to 8pm daily, except Oct 29, when it ends at 5pm. Admission is free.
